Exciting autumn MedComms events (including a secret one...🀫)

Hi Reader

I find getting back to work after the summer easier than any other holiday – the back-to-school vibes fill me with a nostalgic excitement about new things coming up, and I get an irresistible urge to buy notebooks.

There was also some fantastic news that arrived the day I got back to my desk after my summer break. We heard that LiNK 360, the innovative training programme for new recruits into MedComms that I created with the LiNK Health Group team, has received a 2023 Princess Royal Training Award. This recognition of our hard work, and the innovative scheme we created, was a real boost!

But there are lots more exciting things coming up this autumn too...

Take control of your freelance career

Crafting a sustainable freelance MedComms career is challenging. How can you design and implement a business model that will work from a personal and professional perspective?

On Friday 22nd September, I'll be joining Lisa Baker who runs Freelancers in Pubs for a Zoom to take control of your freelance career to make it work for you. You can sign up to join the call here – I'd love to see you there!

Working in and around #MedComms

I'll be at the MedComms Networking event at Heathrow on Monday 25th September, and can't wait. Last year's was a brilliant event so if you're able to come along, do sign up!

I'm joining a panel discussion about recruitment for talent acquisition specialists – if that's your bag, come along to Room 19 at 9am!

But I have a feeling most of you will be more interested in the Meet the Mentors session that afternoon. I'll be joining Katia Chrysostomou, Sarah Nelson and Vicky Sherwood for a panel discussion led by Peter Llewellyn. It will be great getting together with this group, especially after our webinar all about writing tests last month.

The session is also in Room 19, starting at 2pm. Come along with all your questions!

Secret session 🀫

I'll also be hosting a secret session at Heathrow, exclusively for my newsletter subscribers!

You'll have an opportunity to ask me anything, but I'll also have some exclusive free resources to help you make the most of the event, plus you'll get a sneak preview of some new things I've got coming out over the autumn.

🌟 Places will be very limited, so reply to this email if you would like to get onto the guest list. 🌟

New season on YouTube

After my summer break where I answered some of your questions in a series of YouTube Shorts, I've started releasing new full-length videos. The first came out yesterday, looking at what agencies want in their recruits, and how you can show you've got what it takes. You can download the free PDF summary here.

Do reply if you have any questions, or if there are any topics you'd like me to explore in future videos – I'd love to hear from you!

All the best

Eleanor

Hi Reader #MedComms day is nearly here! On Wednesday 12th June, we will celebrate all the quirks and wonder of working in MedComms. You can find the full list of events on medcommsday.com – including things happening online and in-person – but I wanted to tell you about the two I'll be hosting. At 10:30 BST, I'll be taking a break with coffee and cake for the Great MedComms Workbook Bake Off. If you're a freelancer, why don't you join me? It shouldn't just be the agencies that have all the...

Hi Reader I am thrilled to announce that I am taking over the management of the MedComms Workbook service for freelancers in MedComms from its founder, Peter Llewellyn. We’re working together closely during the transition, and both hope it will go from strength to strength. As part of this transition, we’ve launched a community on the Heartbeat platform for the Workbook subscribers. This online space is dedicated to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and supporting freelancers. You can...

Hi Reader Had you heard of MedComms when you were 15? I certainly hadn't! I've had a request from a school in London asking for a work experience opportunity in the spring/summer for a Year 10 student who is keen to become a medical writer. If you work for an agency based in London that might be able to help, please let me know! If you're actually hoping to start your own MedComms career but are a little beyond Year 10 work experience, you might find the First MedComms Job event at the...
